Comm Practice #2
2-16-15
For this community practice, I started watching the movie "Maria Full of Grace". It is about a Columbian girl named Maria who gets involved in a drug trade in order to make money. She had recently quit her job because she didn't like how she was treated. Also, she recently found out she is pregnant. So far, the movie is good and very suspenseful. Seeing how people are used for drug mules in real life everyday, it made the movie feel very real and you are more aware of the drug problems plaguing Spanish countries. Throughout the movie, you see Maria's everyday life in Columbia. The way they live and the way we live in America are polar opposites. Maria had a very poor paying job while living under the same roof with many family members.
I'm watching the movie with English subtitles and I'm surprised that I am catching most of what they're saying without reading the captions. The Spanish they're speaking is very clear and close to the Spanish I hear everyday.
